Katy Perry Fires Back At PETA's Counter-Roar With American Humane Association Letter!

We previously mentioned that PETA wasn't too happy with Katy Perry's animal filled music video.

She recently dropped the video for her new song Roar and in it, and there are several animal actors.

PETA's Merrilee Burke was upset, saying things like:

"What you may not know — as most people do not — is that animals used for entertainment in film and television endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods."

But as we already knew, Katy is a HUGE animal lover and so of course she wouldn't do anything to endanger or overly stress an animal!

So she fired back in a letter from the American Humane Association, saying:

"American Humane Association was on set for the filming of the above referenced music video, which used an elephant, a monkey, birds and a tiger. After reviewing the reports, we believe that the Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media were followed and that no animal was harmed in the making of this music video."

See?! We knew that Katy was caring enough to make sure everything was done by the books.

Insiders even said that it was the animals that dictated the pace of the shoot, so the animals came first!

Way to be a friend to the animals, Katy!! RAWR!!!

All it says is she followed guidelines, it does not address the stress ans anxiety concerns. Nice try.

PETA was not talking bout harming the animals during filming. They were talking about the conditions in which the animals live, and how they are trained in orer to be in videos or movies. So her point is invalid.

I'm glad you mentioned Katy being an animal lover, dear.
I couldn't see her allowing abuse. To watch her when she was on
GMA talking about them, she obviously really loves animals.
It's like quit with the drama!!

Exactly, any animal being used for entertainment is not being allowed to live in its natural environment and socialize the way it is supposed to with other animals. Besides, the AHA has been sued MULTIPLE times for overlooking animal cruelty because they are paid by the film associations. There are many instances where they gave the "seal of approval" when it came out later that animals died/injured.
Its like the Beef Council saying "Don't worry, beef is cruelty free!"

I'm sure Katy was TOLD the animals were fine; it's not her intentions that are in question but the fact that the companies that supply these animals usually treat them very harshly, and not when the cameras are rolling or the stars are around. The AHA does NOTHING about behind-the-scenes training cruelty. I think if Katy knew better, she wouldn't have used real animals.

The american human society=sane human beings with real reasonable brains.

Some PETA supporters= creepy humans who are being watched by some suspicious people as being a potential domestic terrorist threat.

Read Section B; this is from a legal group about AHA's true "powers"

    Re: Poopinalionsmouth – AGREED!

PETA is run by people who don't really care about improving the lives of animals, as much as they just want people to stop eating them or their by-products. Which isn't necessarily unreasonable in and of itself, but their scare-tactics sure are…

If you want to donate your time or money to a real cause that helps animals go for AHS, your local humane society, or directly to an animal rescue foundation. You know, the ones that don't try to get celebrities and women to pose nude in the name of their "cause".

In the end it all comes down to the unavoidable realization of this idea of using animals in the video being extremely stupid and childish. PETA is being concerned of the rights of those living creatures that cannot defend themselves. I know Katy loves animals so that is probably the main reason why they are used in this video. One can only say that she should have known better (which obviously isn't the case).

Re: whatever – Not to mention that what they are saying is yes, you WERE nice to the animals, you love animals, BUT do you realize that those animals get their asses kicked hard, as soon as they get back into the truck to go back to where they came from, and you, Katy Perry and her team, just paid and enabled those crooked people, to exploit what these creatures have been forced into learning through abuse? And what a crappy song.

    Sorry do not like PETA.

PETA should look in the mirror when they talk about animal cruelty — Virginia state filings (where the PETA headquarters is) with the State Veterinarian show year after year how many animals they kill.

Hope this means that there was no bull hook used on the elephant (or any other harm to any of the animals)…

"DURING THE FILMING OF THE VIDEO" what PETA is stating that animals endure horrific training methods .. keyword for all you idiots "TRAINING" which means before they went on the video, they needed to get trained right?. Celebrities, seem to be clueless of everything!

Hey, y'all bitching forgot one thing..; WHAT ABOUT ANIMALS IN ZOOS????

Re: chillax62 – At least they aren't forced to listen to her horrible music… Most animals in Zoos were rescued & don't know how to live in the wild. & the we are not talking about Zoo's… They are forced to act a certain way in Videos & Movies. Not in Zoos.
