The most interesting type of science is platypus science!
Everyone knows this!
So it's super inneresting to learn that the largest platypus ever known used to roam Australia 15 million years ago!
A team of paleontologists out of the University of New South Wales in Australia found the new species, dubbed Obdurodon tharalkooschild.
The animal is now thought to have been able to grow to twice the size of a modern platypus, larger than previously estimated.
The craziest part is it's all based off of one single fossilized molar!
That's super impressive! Way to go, science!!
