Awww! What a little cutie pie!!
Marwell Wildlife in the UK is super excited about the birth of their first giant anteater.
The little pup, born to first time momma Chiquita, doesn't even have a name yet and only weighs a few pounds.
Giant anteaters, native to South America, are listed as Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species so this little babe is super important for conservation efforts!
What's super cute is this little baby will cling to his mother's back or legs for just about the first year of his life. He'll be a hugging machine for a full year!
The collection manager at Marwell Zoo said:
"We are so proud to see Chiquita carrying the baby as it hitches a ride across her back and demonstrating maternal instincts, as it’s her first pup. She seems content and we can hear the pup feeding and occasionally whistling as it talks to mum."
Awwwww! That's so stankin' cute!
We just know she's gonna be a great momma!
Congrats Marwell Zoo, take care of that lil pup!
