When Xena the warrior puppy was found, she was only given a 1% chance to live!
She looked like she was dead for weeks. It's amazing how much Xena changed with just the love of some good people!
We previously mentioned that Xena was adopted into a family with 8-year-old Jonny Hickey, an autistic boy who went from isolated social outcast to life loving chatterbox!!
All because of Xena!
So because of her AH-mazing therapeutic powers with Jonny, she was named the ASPCA Dog of the Year for 2013!
She shares the title with Koshka, who took Cat of the year!
Koshka was an abused street cat, rescued by Staff Sgt. Jesse Knott, a solider in Afghanistan.
After one of his close buddies was killed in a suicide bombing, Jesse slipped into a dark depression and was even thinking about hurting himself.
Until Koshka came up to him, purring and head butting him and touching him with his paws.
The cat saved his life and helped him to reach out for help! In return, Jesse went through a ridiculous process to get the cat sent to his parents in Oregon where Koshka now lives.
Check out the video (above) to learn a little about how much one animal can change a person's life!
