Life Of Pi Director Responds To Near Fatal Tiger Drowning

Life of Pi director Ang Lee responds to near tiger drowning on set!

We previously mentioned that an American Humane Association (AHA) monitor named Gina Johnson let slip that a tiger almost died while filming Life of Pi!

So even though the movie had a "No Animals Were Harmed" tag, that wasn't exactly true!

A tiger nearly drowned while swimming in a giant tank when he got lost trying to swim to the side.

Life of Pi director Ang Lee opened up about the incident, saying:

"It was an accident. The crew worked hard to rescue the tiger and then showed him a lot of care, giving him five-star treatment. […] We gave a lot of care to the tiger, as much as we possibly could."

It's not so much about giving the tiger great care after an accident (that should be expected) but it's about not putting an animal in harm's way in the first place!!

They should've just used a computer generated tiger for EVERYTHING instead of just most shots.

Hopefully the AHA and the film industry will see this near death as a wake up call and this will then lead to the protection of more animals!

Oh Perez…the sad fact is that this is never going to happen. AHA cannot control if the film industry uses live animals or not…they are there to make sure they can do everything they can to prevent dangerous things from happening. They are not a legal entity, but a non-profit doing all they can to help…cut them some slack and help them raise some money so they can do more!

Really Perez? This coming from the guy that just went to the circus with his kid? You know they use animals as entertainment right, not the life they should have to live –??

North Carolina's comment is clearly someone from Robin Ganzert's camp. AHA is a legal entity with Peace officer powers. AHA needs more money? What does money have to do with the rep who covered up the near drowning? Robin Ganzert destroyed a once proud organization. THR article is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Ganzert's corruption. Wait for more explosive information to come out. Jaw dropping accounting practices are about to hit the Attorney General's office.

Another of the industries dirty little secrets when it comes to the treatment of animals used for filming. It's rampant w/ animal cruelty and gets away w/ it. Absolutely disgusting, unnecessary & heartbreaking.
