Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson SUSPENDED By A&E After Homophobic GQ Remarks!

Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson just got benched!

A&E suspended its reality star because of the horribly homophobic remarks he made in a GQ interview that came to light today, one which saw him call homosexuality a sin and also a gateway to sex with animals!!!

As we reported earlier, the LGBT community was absolutely outraged by the TV star's small-minded remarks. It sounds like his show's network was pretty unhappy, too.

A&E released this statement:

"We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely."

We were ALL extremely disappointed by his comments. We can't understand why anyone say something so small-minded and insensitive!

CLICK HERE to see what the Robertson family patriarch said to get everyone so riled up.

Do U think his punishment is fitting?

I'm even more enraged by the people who have his same belief system. I'm sure there will be public outcry by those who define themselves as morally and religiously conservative and who will accuse the "liberal media" of suppressing their chosen homophobic, racist and intolerant beliefs. I'm super glad that A&E chose to suspend his position on the show, but I don't think it will change the fact that they will no longer be able to stand behind this family and will eventually have to take the show off the air.

  2. 2

It is his opinion. He was not gay bashing at all. Seems today you can have an opinion as long as it is left wing…too bad

Hey, this is America! He is allowed his own beliefs, and allowed, under free speech to voice them. There is a dangerous trend in this country of not allowing a person to voice, or even to have their own opinions, This is scary, and YOU may be next. I don't have to agree with anybody or everybody. What happened to free speech? I saw you judging Carrie Prejean, and that look on your face, and your head shaking, and knew that she had lost in your eyes. How is THAT not biased? We are allowed our own beliefs, and they don't have to sync up with yours.

    Disappointing.

I agree. He wasn't gay bashing at all! He was just sharing his OWN views, which apparently you cannot do anymore. I am a christian and while I certainly do not agree with what he was saying, I think people are absolutely over reacting over this

One of the most popular figures in America has now lost his job pretty much for quoting the Bible. the queers have won. the American delegation to the olympics to the world stage will all be homos and dykes. the potus is a queer, hillary clinton is a dyke half the supreme court are some kind of pervert.

here we are people, quote the Bible and lose your job. if you fucking have one.

This show was about family. A sincere, loving family. A family who sat down for meals at the end of each show, together - whether they do that in their real life as frequently - it doesn't matter, one could think they are great role models for family, for the TV viewership who sees nothing but crap like Big Brother and the like.

BUT Phil is Christian and that makes him EVIL! His family is EVIL for showing them all sitting down together eating a meal and OMG they prayed too. Evil evil evil evil. EVIL!

    ~sarcasm intended~

  9. 9

Well, the LGBT community has won again! ******* idiots! Were expected to keep an opened mind and support gay marriage, even if we really dont. If we make one little "homophobic slur" then thats pretty much risking our careers, as well as our lives. He didnt say anything bad at all about gay people. He just stated what the bible said, and gave his personal opinion. He didnt say that he hates all gays and they should be burned at the stake! I support gay marriage, but i dont believe that its ok for the LGBT community to pounce on anyone who dont believe in gay rights. I will continue to see duck Dynasty because i love that family and i believe that they are a well connected family that doesnt care about fame or fortune. If Mr. phil robertson is being suspended for anti gay commments, then home come E! isnt suspending kim kardashian when she said that all old people are ugly. ISNT THAT AGEISM?????? Think about it!!

2 part comment: I have been visiting your site for years and have never felt the need to comment but I just have to on this one. First off, for a group of people who preach tolerance, you liberals have to be some of the most intolerant people on the planet. You want everyone to be tolerant of your sexuality or race but let someone have an opposing belief then they are evil. Phil just said he didn't get it and that it was a sin. He didn't throw out hate speech or slur anyone. Doesn't he get the right to his beliefs? I know this country loves to hate on our bill of rights but we still have freedom of speech as well as freedom to practice your religion. Christianity says point blank that homosexuality is a sin and he is a christian who practices his beliefs. He didn't disparage anyone. He even went as far to admit he didn't understand it.

  13. Yeah Right says – reply to this

    13

part 2: As for the civil rights comment, he prefaced his comment with the fact that he never saw with his own eyes any mistreatment of black people. He didn't say they weren't mistreated, he just said he never saw it. I can say that I didn't see the holocaust but that doesn't negate the fact that it happened. Frankly the fact that he didn't have it happen right in front of him probably helped him to not be that way. History repeats itself and you can be a product of your environment. All I am saying is that before you go and criticize him for practicing his beliefs and for not seeing the horrific events during the civil rights movement, why don't you practice a little tolerance!

  14. 14

I think Phil is pretty sick of all this anyway. He's worth millions. He wanted to get the word of God out there and he did.

  16. 16

Not good news at all for LGBT. I am 100% for equal rights but he didn't say anything out of hate and he didn't single out gays as being the only sinners. Did I agree with his opinion, absolutely not but it is his opinion. All this does is call on more hate going towards the gays when in reality it's the loudest that is ruining it for everyone.

  17. vessel says – reply to this

    17

A&E has no right to suspend this man for exercising his constitutional rights of freedom or speech and religion. As much as the gay community knows how hard it is to fight for their rights, to celebrate or condone taking away someone else’s is hypocritical. #1 that is what the Bible says. #2 IF one is a Christian and believes that the Bible is God words, that is what God said. Anyone can pick up the book and read if for themselves. God doesn’t say to hate or judge; He calls all of us to love. Phil Robertson comment was a quote from the Bible about homosexuality was a quote from the Bible. So he got suspended for repeating what God Word said. So now we are suspending the creator and calling Him homophobic?

LBGT community better be careful. They are going to piss more and more people off and there will be some sort of backlash. I'm not sure what but once people start standing up together, after this nonsense, and saying oh hell no, get ready. First a baker has a to bake cakes for gay weddings, which he is against belief-wise, or be imprisoned. GO GET A FREAKING CAKE AT ANOTHER BAKERY. WHY WOULD YOU WANT SOMEONE TO BAKE a cake for you that doesn't have positive wishes for your life? And now, this, with beloved by many Phil Robertson. Even today, you can see more people are responding. A change is in the air! Tolerance my arse !!!!!!!!! If you want tolerance, you gotta give it.

Since when is tolerance a one-way street? Why should we have to tolerate YOUR views if you can't tolerate ours? If you would take the time to actually read his interviews and not just the parts of them that the media feeds you, then you would see that he and his family also talk about LOVE and not judgement. They explain that they don't believe it is their place to judge, but God's. All Phil Robertson did was state his personal beliefs.. if you can state yours without repercussion, then we shall certainly state ours. I stand with Phil Robertson.

I m gay however I am disgusted by this. LGBT does not need to scream and shot everytime anything is said. It is really not the way most civil gays stand for. I for one live my life in love and acceptance even for those that may not agree with my life style. Phil did not say anything out of line, he was just expressing an opinion in a respectful way. And to the queens claiming that his remarks are just as bad as racism needs to stop. Civil rights and gay rights are very different (I am white). I do not agree with his remarks however I love the show and the show will not be the same without him. I'm hoping that this is a ratings ploy or something b/c all this is doing is driving out hate on both sides.

It's his opinion Perez get over it. No gay bashing at all. Many religious people hold this view. It is what it is. Deal with it. If you don't like it then don't tune in. He wants off the show anyway no skin off his ass I'm sure. His part in the show was going to be minimal next season as he hates the cameras in his home according to another interview he did so life goes on for him. If he had said gays are pigs and should die ok, that's bashing, but to say it's a sin that's his right, it's an opinion that his religion teaches. You can not take away another persons beliefs in what the Bible clearly says something to effect of man shall not lie with another man. If he chooses to take that to heart that's his right. For anyone to tell him he can't is just as narrow minded. You can't call every opinion that doesn't celebrate gays as bashing. There is always negative to counter balance the positive it's part of life, welcome to reality Perez sometimes it doesn't align with your thoughts and opinions. Put your big girl panties on and deal with it. People are allowed to have opinions different form you. This planet is FAR too PC and far too sensitive.

God created all of us, not just redneck old white guys who use religion as a weapon. I'm glad A&E acted quickly. We have enough of these nuts in congress. Hopefully they will be all looking for work come the election this year. Why some have to hate others to make themselves feel superior is beyond me and they are usually people like this nut.

Used to be people were allowed to think what they thought. Now they are being pressured and told what they should think and especially, it seems, by media. Older people are going to have older views. You didn't kick grandma out into the cold because she had some head snapping views or was a dogmatic religious thumper. You can't change views by force. It's different views that make the world interesting. If everyone is forced into the 'correcdt' views, you will be left with the Borg.

  45. 45

Re: Dev – He didn't express any HATRED. People like you need to stop. You want everyone to tolerate your beliefs, but if someone has different beliefs than you they are shunned? Your stance is completely hypocritical to what gays are trying to accomplish. He simply stated what he believed, but did it with no ill will, malice, or hate.

  46. 46

Re: shaygirl1309 – You sure seem obsessed with gay people…When someone lays on the hate to that degree it's obvious that you have a lot of inner conflict…once you come to terms with your sexual preference, you won't feel it necessary to act like you hate gays to deflect suspicion, lol.

  47. ok_then says – reply to this

    47

People who believe that gays are a stepping stone to bestiality have no place on television or anywhere else to broadcast their hatred. I want the rest of the Robertson family to come forward to either denounce their father or support him. If they support this sickening belief, then A&E will have no choice but to cancel the entire series. Because the ensuing outrage will force advertisers to drop off. This is a family show, that is also watched by gay families.

  48. ok_then says – reply to this

    48

Re: switz11 – What do you call comparing gays to being a stepping stone to bestiality? There are gay families who have raised children who grew up to be responsible adults. What do you say to those children who are now being raised by gay parents? That the t.v. show they sit down to watch together says that their parents have sex with animals? How can you possibly not say that is gay bashing? It is way beyond that! This is a family show, and this behavior is not acceptable.

  49. ok_then says – reply to this

    49

I am sure GQ had a heads up on his beliefs and that is why they asked him the questions. Sort of sounds like a set up to me. As long as he is not spewing his beliefs in the show I think the suspension is not warranted. He IS entitled to those beliefs, whether they offend someone or not. You can't change someone's belief system by punishing them, it doesn't work that way. It will just enforce the beliefs more. And come on, WTF is with this new thing where EVERYONE has to jump on the damn band wagon and declare their beliefs to the world, when everyone should maybe just shut the F up about it.

Re: Mary Claire – Yes there is free speech but obviously a person should consider that there may be backlash when speaking in a public forum, especially if you are paid indirectly by the public. No ones throwing rocks at him, he said what he wanted to say and that doesn't take away from his rights. But the network that is paying him has the right to also not agree with what he says.

Are you telling me if some movie star said "Yeah I love having sex with kids, it's great, everyone should try it!" that their career wouldn't be affected by it? They have the right to say it, but free speech SHOULD come with a cost. People should consider thinking before speaking, that's something you guys lack.

  60. 60

I may not agree with what he said, but I agree in his right to say it. More and more this country is starting to forget that we have freedom of speech, despite whether you agree with what someone is saying. Paula Deen, who made millions for the Food Network and other companies, was fired for allegedly saying something, now this guy is being forced off one of the top rated shows because he spoke his opinion?!?! This is ridiculous. Do you know how many African American comedians make fun of white people and there are never any repercussions like this.

  62. 62

Re: fid – I worked in ad sales. A show charges for ads in their programs based on the ratings. The higher the ratings, the more they charge for ads. So whatever public is "indirectly paying them" are people who are watching the show. If you don't like something, turn the channel.

I love it when someone who's semi famous especially from somewhere else outside the bubble that is the thirty mile zone of which as we all know is riddled with liberal bias is in-tolerant of other people's opinions and cries bloody murder and resorts to calling them "homophobic" just because there is a dissenter out there lmao (the same epicenter that preaches "tolerance" for other lifestyles, viewpoints etc. aka tolerance that ideally fits in accordance their views only). who a person chooses to love or be in a intimate relationship with is their choice and business. I do not agree that because one's choice differs he or she should have a say in who someone else is with. I am all for anyone can marry and love anyone else. With that said, I am also for freedom of speech. I feel his coments may have been a little..how do you say ignorant in their wording, but we are 1: talking about a hillbilly who makes more then any of us probably will so not alot of smarts there, and 2: is it really the message the LGBT is attempting to send is "support or be punished". This mans comments may have been "outdated" but so is punishment for difference of opinion or choosing what words come out of your mouth. That thinking predates the LGBT movement, the MLK movement, hell even womens rights. Lets take a minute to think, is chastising this mans choice of words any different then chastising for who we love, or the color of our skin, choice in religion, or even where we come from.

That is RIDICULOUS. I am bisexual. I think that the PC Pukes in this country are getting so crazy and out of hand. I don't watch Duck Dynasty, but my LESBIAN SISTER does. She isn't offended by what Phil says. She said "You are not gonna agree with everyone all the time. I don't even agree with MY GIRLFRIEND about everything that she says about the president and his policies. Condemning People and trying to take their job because they don't believe exactly what you do is not AMERICAN. WE ALL HAVE RIGHTS, not just special interest groups, no matter how good that their intentions are". I agree with her 100%.
And for the record, most of my friends didn't even know what A&E was until Duck Dynasty came along. I think that A&E needs Duck Dynasty much more than Duck Dynasty ever needed A&E.

  75. 75

His opinion is fine and dandy when he's at home talking to his friends. But when you work for a NETWORK TV STATION you can't go around making comments that go against their code of conduct. Even little old me, working for WestJet in Canada, can't go around saying homophobic, racist or other crap like that without the threat of being FIRED. That's what happens when you work for a company and SIGN CONTRACTS saying you will ADHERE to their CODES OF CONDUCT. Sooooooooooo if you hate the gays, more power to you but expect there to be consequences when you express hate speech. :)

I understand A&E removing him from the show because otherwise they would look as if they back his statements, and that's not good for business. But they should stand by him and defend his right to his beliefs. They don't have to share them, but they should support his rights to them. As an avid fan, though I don't agree with his statements, I do agree with his right to say them. Did America really think that this family, from Southern LA, who are deeply religious and from a rural area really think this WOULDN'T be his view point? Just because he is on a national television show doesn't mean he is automatically required to have "politically correct" view points. We live in a country where opinion and democracy make us great, where we have a right to free speech and our beliefs. You don't have to agree with his statements to enjoy this show; the family is funny, heartfelt and deep-rooted in their beliefs, which I find refreshing. Believe me, Phil isn't sorry. And he isn't batting an eye lash. And though I believe in equal love and racial equality, I support Phil entirely for speaking on his beliefs. It what makes this country great. Don't apologize Phil, your are entirely entitled to your opinion.

People are already whining about wanting an apology from Phil Robertson. It sounds like he is getting railroaded like Paula Deen and Isaiah Washington. I think that Robertson should tell A&E "Adios". He could have another hit show on another network. A&E would really miss those huge ratings from Duck Dynasty if it were gone.

Why does he not get the right to voice his opinion?!?! They knew his family and the show was based on their strong religious beliefs and now they are surprised that he tells his beliefs to the media? Absolutely unfair for them to remove him based on his opinion or beliefs! If others are free to be pro gay, why is he not free to be anti gay?

And yet A&E is still going to air Duck Dynasty even though the chances of the entire cast sharing those beliefs is about 100%. Hey A&E, hypocrite much?

I M A WEST VIRGINIA MAN AND PROUD OF IT. I stand for all that is moral and PHIL ROBERTSON is a moral person in my book. GOD GUNS AND COUNTRY. A and E has no contract on what PHIL or any persons thoughts and words. If gays or lesbians are not in knowledge of the bible I no some day of judgement GOD will have a place for them. Until that day i will be the judge of who I accept in my life. I have had the honor of telling three gays in my life you don"t exist. These three managed to sneak into our family by marriage. Before i found out; one of them went gigging frogs with me to this day i am very cautious. If this country don"t get back to what this country was founded upon and for those that don"t no a christian group called the pilgrims landed on the beaches of VIRGINIA from this a very well known phrase was added to our life IN GOD WE TRUST. Without this in our country who can we trust. My advise to any one reading this be careful who holds the frog sack while you are frogging. PHIL YOUR MY HERO IF YOU NEVER WIN A BATTLE. STAND YOUR GROUND. Me and all my friends support you and your family. PS DROP A and E find a network that respects morals. YOUR FRIEND JACK

I am bisexual. Phil doesn't offend me. If Phil did offend me, I would just quit watching Duck Dynasty. I wouldn't want him to lose his job. I like Phil and Duck Dynasty, so I won't quit watching them any time soon. I hope all that dumb controversy bullcrap over what he said to some magazine will just go away soon. ~ I am watching Katie talk to Osteen right now. She is asking him about his views on gay marriage. She made a remark about how would you be for everyone if you aren't for gay rights, or something like that (I'm paraphrasing). She needs to understand that you can LOVE EVERYONE and wish them well without agreeing with them on every issue. Two people aren't going to agree about everything all the time. Goodness!

He wasn't gay bashing. Apparently if you don't agree 100% with gays, and accept everything with zero argument it's homophobic and gay bashing..give me a break. My gay friend laughs his ass off at crap like this. I'm sure the gay community "isn't outraged" just a small minority of them that are bored looking for something to be pissed off at and chime in on due to their boring, meaningless lives.

Re: Mary Claire – Please, Of course we're all allowed our own opinions & we have the right to voice them. But that doesn't mean we SHOULD. Anybody with a bit of sense would stay away from topics that may upset people. You might have some overweight friends, but do you TELL them their fat!? I'd like to think not, because if you had any morals, you wouldn't, despite "freedom of speech." Some people don't know how to keep their mouths shut & these are the people who are holding us back from moving on with the times!
