Miley Cyrus Calls Pit Bull Haters Racist!

Miley Cyrus calls pit bull haters racist!

Miley Cyrus is a huge dog lover!

Say whaaaaat?? We had nooooo idea! (Sarcasm.)

Miley loves all of her dogs equally (which is a lot of love to spread around) and that's just the best thing ever!

She recently shared a pic of her sleeping sweet pit bull Mary Jane and wrote:

"People need 2 be educated on pits. They're killed cause no one takes them. True racism in the dog world- by humans =("

Aww! That's terrible! But it's pretty much true!

People are bigoted against pits and pit mixes and it's so sad!

Pits are some of the sweetest dogs ever!

Heck, they were called "nanny dogs" back in the day because they were so good with kids! Seriously!

Way to spread a positive message, Miley!

It is not quite that simple. When you have a dog like a pit bull or a rottie that has the musculature to do serious harm, it is vital that the owner's know what they are doing. And so many owners don't have a clue what they are doing. And with pitbulls you often get owners who get them because they are scary, or owners who want to prove that all a dog needs is love. Both are equally dangerous. Different breeds have different attributes that need to be taken into account when training - to ignore that is foolish.

ANY dog has the potential to injure. A friend was almost mauled to death by a neighbour's black labrador retriever, and it was the other neighbour's dog that jumped a six foot fence and pinned the lab to the ground (thus saving this person's life). That dog? A brindle pitbull.

My rottweiler mix has been attacked by a few dogs, and they were all medium or smaller dogs, and they were out of control. Had my dog retaliated, it would be the "big bad rottweiler's" fault. My dog has been trained to walk away and come to me, and he does.

I agree that pitbulls (and rotties…and mastiffs…and allaunts…and dobermans, etc) need to be properly trained by individuals who understand the dogs' needs, but to say only specific breeds need that is not only inappropriate, it's incorrect and it sets up all dog owners for failure. I've worked with labs that were dog aggressive, human aggressive and were the worst dogs in the bunch, while the "big bad" breeds were submissive, sweet and kind dogs. All dogs need to be taught with patience and consistency, and by an individual who knows what they're doing.

Don't get ANY breed of dog, if you're not willing to do the work, because ALL dogs can injure. Just ask the family in California whose baby was killed by the pet dog…a pomeranian.

To ignore the reality that all dogs can injure or hurt is foolish.

She's actually literally right (surprisingly). A lot of people who hate 'pit bulls' only do so because they (ignorantly) think black people are the only ones who own these dogs, and they hate black people. Look around all the various news story comments about supposed 'pit bull' attacks. A lot of the comments are outright racist, as in human racism, not just prejudice against certain types of dog.

I blame humans for the bad reputation that comes with these dogs.
It's not the dog's fault, it's the owner's fault who doesn't take proper care of their dog. And turns them into these violent dogs that people hear about on the news. There's a shelter near me that takes care of pit bulls and they raise them on a diet with no red meat and take care of them and shows them love, like it should be.

I would too swim with the big sharks if they were not potentially lethal ..

shes absolutely right. i had a pitbull growing up, sweetest dog i've ever known. never hurt anybody. at most..he did a couple warning growls, but never attacked. sadly i live in a place that has a pitbull ban..which i think is disgusting.

Re: Grizzily – You're a moron and playing the victim card. You're making it about blacks for some weird ass unknown reason. You sir/mam are a retard. Please castrate yourself.

Blaming any dog for being vicious is putting the cart before the horse. Teach a dog to fight and the dog will fight (pit bulls are really good at this). Teach a dog to be obedient and loving (pit bulls included) and the dog will be obedient and loving. I think the problem is many dog owners are not willing or prepared to do the work necessary to obtain a positive result.

And she wears fur, so she can just STFU.

I don't like pits/Rottweilers because when I was 8 one attacked me and sent me to the hospital for 3 hours and left me with scars. I think that's a good reason to be apprehensive towards them.

Re: GradSchoolGrad – I am so happy you posted this story. I've always had an obsession with animals and when I was about 8 yrs I stupidly stuck my hand through a fence and was bitten by a…black lab.

There was a rottie in the pen as well but the lab bit and almost took a finger.

It was my fault and not the lab's but to say only certain breeds are bad is doggie racism. No doubt.

No dog is a nanny dog. Please stop this myth. 16 children killed this year by dogs, 15 by pit or pit mixes, one by a bull mastiff (which is a bully breed.) You can argue it's not the dog, it's the owner, but in the end does it really matter when a child is brutally killed? Protect children by closely supervising them around any large and powerful dog.

Nobody in their right mind takes a pit bull home from the shelter because they're powerful, athletic animals with extremely high rates of aggression, particularly toward dogs. Which is something Miley discovered in 2012 when her "sweet pit bull" Ziggy mauled and killed her Yorkie, Lila.

The pit bull story is tragic - they're mass-produced to be killers for the foul and illegal sport of dog-fighting, and then discarded like garbage when their usefulness is over. The answer is to crack down on breeders and owners, not to force people who want a normal, decent family pet to shoulder the burden.
