Kellan Lutz is a hero!
And what's awesome is that he didn't just choose to spend time and raise money for an organization that already has plenty of help — he actually went local, to try and make a huge difference.
And he did, he made a very big difference for a local dog shelter in Bulgaria! He even recruited the cast and crew of The Legend Of Hercules to help!
When he went shoot the new action film last year, he was heartbroken over the amount of strays. So he did something about it!
Here's what he said:
"There's no laws (in Bulgaria) against what you do with your pets so a lot of people get dogs and… there's strays everywhere and it breaks my heart how un-taken care of they are and there's this amazing organization that would rescue the dogs.
"They hold 500 dogs in this small facility and they don't euthanize. So Renny (Harlin, director) and Gaia (Weiss, co-star) and all of the cast from Hercules, we decided to help out and we'd go there on our off days and walk the dogs. We even named one Hercules, and someone in Dublin (Ireland), I believe, bought Hercules from them. We also raised over $200,000 for this place."
If he had told us this while his shirt was off, we're pretty sure we'd be dead from swooning right now!
Those poor little pooches are lucky to have you, Kellan! We hope you can do more work like this all over the world!
