NYC Overrides Mayor Bloomberg's Veto To Create An Animal Abuser Registry!

NYC overrode former Mayor Bloomberg's veto to create an animal abuser registry.

Way to go New York City!

Former mayor Bloomberg was all like, "I don't care about animals," but the people of New York were all, "Uh, but we do… your veto is vetoed!"

NYC has approved a city-wide registry for animal abusers!!

The recently approved bill requires that anyone convicted of animal abuse has to be registered and can no longer adopt a pet or live in a household where an animal also lives.

That's incredible! It's like the sex offender registry but to protect animals!

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito was speaking about that bill and several others they passed, saying:

"It's closing that chapter. It was overdue business. [The bills] were overwhelmingly supported in the last session and they were overwhelmingly supported in the override."

We can imagine tons of people supporting an animal abuser registry!

So glad they overrode that veto!

Now NYC's animals are just that much safer and we're so happy.
