The San Francisco Bay Area is literally the luckiest place on the face of the earth right now.
Because they're going to be getting the first (and second) cat cafes in the U.S. of A!!
We previously mentioned the Brits were lucky enough to open a cat cafe! (The whole trend started in Japan. Geniuses.)
The Oakland location is called Cat Town Cafe and the San Fran one wins all our love with the name KitTea!!
Best part of all this? KitTea is a halfway home for adoptable cats! They've partnered with two shelters so their cafe will have a constant kitty staff and will help homeless cats find forever homes!
The whole idea is to have a low stress environment, with Courtney Hatt, one of the founders of KitTea, saying:
"What really drew me to the concept was the idea of a space that was relaxing and didn’t have a high frenetic energy like coffee houses do. If this can be successful, I think there will definitely be people who follow suit … It’s going to be pretty big."
We hope beyond hope, we dream beyond dream, that this will be a reality. Good luck circumventing health laws! If anyone can get it done, it's San Fran.
We want a kitty cafe on the corner of everything street in every major city in America!
Let's make it happen!!
