This is what pure happiness looks like!

The "Adoption Room" at Berks ARL (Berks County Animal Rescue League, which sounds amazing) in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania is filled with adorable kitties that people can give good homes.

It's also open to children in grades 1-8 who love to read — so they can go in and read to the cats and get some much needed fuzz therapy!

The program is designed to help improve their reading skills while also helping the shelter animals. According to the ARL, cats find the rhythmic reading soothing and calming!

The inspiration for the program was a little boy named Sean, whose mother is the ARL program coordinator. He was struggling with reading until she brought him in to read to the kitties, and he loved it SOOOO much that he asked to come back!

The image of the little boy with the orange tabby rubbing up against him as he reads is srsly THE most precious thing we have ever seen!!!

The program is called Book Buddies, and it's growing!

Check out some of the amazingly adorable pics (below)!

P.S. THIS is why shelter animals are the best!

Wow love this idea! Whoever thought of it is a genius!! More cities should adapt this for their kids! Yay for reading!

Over on Kauai, you can go to the Humane Society and rent a dog for the day to take for a hike or whatever. They also have kitties, but you have to play with them at the shelter.

Aww at the first one with the cat hugging him, and LOL at most of those kids being overweight or borderline obese..MURICA!
