Liam Neeson Gets Blasted By Irish Animal Rights Group! Find Out Why HERE!

| Filed under: Sad SadLiam NeesonAnimal RightsHorses

Liam Neeson hates NYC's carriage horses?? But why???

Pretty much everyone everywhere knows that New York's carriage horses don't have the easiest life.

Thankfully, NY Mayor Bill de Blasio has a plan!

He's going to introduce legislation that will outlaw horse-drawn carriages!

Liam Neeson, however, doesn't agree with this at all. He feels that the horses don't suffer.

He also believes that it will rob carriage drivers of their livelihood.

Thankfully, the Irish actor might revise his opinion after hearing what the Irish animal rights organization ARAN (Animal Rights Action Network) has to say about his stance:

"He may be able to act and string lines together, but when it comes to understanding the suffering horses endure in all weather extremes often in suffocating traffic fumes in the carriage trade, sadly Mr. Neeson has been a flop. The Irish public is commending Mayor de Blasio in his progressive efforts to retire this outdated industry in favor of a New York City that can hold its head up high with streets that do not harbor horse abuse."

So not only does most of America disagree with Liam, his homeland of Ireland disagrees with him too.

Maybe he'll listen to them and finally change his opinion.

Save the carriage horses!

ARAN does not speak for our entire nation!!! They are an extreme group who target celebrities so they can get free publicity… Which they are obviously getting… We have horse drawn carriages in Dublin and on the ring of Kerry and they are some of the most well cared for animals in this country… Mersin may not be 100% correct in his opinion but ARAN are not the gospel according to Irish people!!!

De Blasio would be a fool to introduce a ban that New Yorkers don't agree with. His poll numbers are dropping and only 40% agree with the job he's doing. All he needs is to bring this up again to ensure he gets only one term.

Eh, the whole of Ireland does not condemn Liam. Tbh we couldn't give a shit!! They are only focusing on Liam because he is famous and are trying to generate a buzz…. I can't even believe this is a news worthy story!!

MANY horses have been involved in auto accidents, which prove fatal for horses, and they are exposed to the constant pollution of buses! and autos. They are also driven until they are very old, and in extremely hot and cold temperatures. Not every driver is bad, but the NYC streets are barely fit for cars and not fit for horses. Antique "style" convertible cars and rick-shaws are other options, not poor animals. If allowed only in small parks where very strict animal licensing was allowed during spring and fall months only.

And then what happens to the horses? The glue factory? The dog food factory? Of course PETA wouldn't mind that. They believe animals are better off dead than domesticated.

So many Ignorant comments by people who do not see how carriage horses are treated in NYC. I live in NYC, and I have seen horses whipped. I have seen them outside when it is below 20 degrees. They never get to gallop naturally or socialize with each other. They are hitched to a heavy carriage pulling tourists through the most congested, dangerous traffic. Horse experts say they should get pasture time every day. They do not get that on a daily basis in NYC. They live in confined stables. One of the stables has a huge ramp that horses must climb to get to there stall. God forbid there is ever a fire, how would scared animals evacuate from the upper floors?

If Liam Neeson really cared about the horses, maybe he can take a bit of his million$$$ to build the horses a large, roomy stable. Maybe he could set up a grassy pasture where the horses can have some freedom and socialize with each other. Or maybe he could not care less. Horses do not belong in the worst NYC traffic inhaling all the car & bus fumes. And FYI, there are rescues set up to take in the horses. They will not go to a glue factory. Do some research!!!

he is NOT irish… he is NORTHERN IRISH. making him part of the UK.

The horses are not abused. They are happy and well cared for. Almost NO horses wild or domesticated live in the fairy tale land of green pastures and life long "freedom" falsely parroted by PETA (97% kill rate of animals they allegedly rescue!!) and their misinformed dupes. Rescues today are struggling and failing in record numbers due to the economy and more than 170,000 horses go to slaughter each year. The horses are heavily regulated and the land where they live is valuable real estate. De Blasio's biggest supporter and the leader of this group is a wealthy developer, connect the dots. It's about the $$$$ not the horses.

I completely agree with Liam Neeson and good for him for speaking up for what he believes is right. And contrary to the statements in this article and the comments of the animal activists, the majority of people in New York City, and around the continent, want to keep the carriage horses.

I have seen them with my own eyes, and I didn't have to be an animal expert to have seen how healthy, calm and content they were. They seemed to really enjoy the attention from the public, and I saw (because I'm one of those people who can stand around and watch animals all day) so many little kids gently stroking the horses' noses and the horses were as calm and gentle as could be.

The big complaint seems to be the horses in traffic; if you saw Liam Neeson on the talk show, you would have heard him say that perhaps it could be worked out that the horses stay within Central Park, if a compromise is required. But the horses are healthy and receive regular medical care; what's the difference for all the people, police horses, dogs etc. that live in the city and breathe the fumes from vehicles? Most people in NYC don't get health care as good as what the horses receive.

It would be irresponsible and tragic if the horse and carriage industry was destroyed just because of pushy and very vocal extremists, who are being used by the way, as mouthpieces for the greedy land developer who has de Blasio in his wallet, er, pocket!

Re: robert – Right. Most of these people posting do not have a clue, or they simply couldn't care less about the horses. Thanks for telling it as it really is. I've seen enough of the suffering these horses go through myself, so this is not news to me. The thing that does disappoint me is that I really liked Liam Neeson as an actor. Thought he was brilliant. Not so any more.

I am ashamed to be of the same race as some of you. To think that its ok for horses to be in heavy congested traffic pulling fat lazy people is ok is mind boggling. several horses have died on the actual streets and ive seen cranes lifting the bodies into trucks. most are not well taken care of and have protruding ribs from being under fed, sores on their bodies from constant harnessing and whips, and respitory wheezing that you can hear when close enough from constantly breathing exhaust from traffic. it is sad that you all think anyone that is against animal cruelty is a peta person. we arent, we are clear minded, compassionate, reasonable people who see what is truly going on and will try to help these animals as long as it takes. would you want to do what they are forced to do and live this way? if you say yes, then volunteer and go do it because I know you wouldnt. ignorance is so prevalent in this country its sad. we are behing the rest of the world in everything including outdated animal rides in traffic. makes no sense whatsoever. disgusting. all of you. just disgusting.
