Fire crews at Langwarrin in Melbourne, Australia got to save a tiny life recently.
Here's the story:
A koala was hit by a car and took refuge in a tree.
When they went to rescue the little critter...
Sam Simon is super wealthy and sadly dying of cancer. He has the means to change the world and has decided to do something about it.
He's doing something incredible… giving away all of his massive fortune to great causes! Mainly animal rights and feeding the hungry.
Ingrid Newkirk, PETA's president, had originally made Sam aware of Valediction's plight. She said:
"Valediction was in pain, arthritic and had suffered a fracture, and yet he was being prepared to race again, to wring every last dollar out of him. If Sam Simon hadn't stepped in to rescue him, I think it's a safe bet Valediction would've had a catastrophic breakdown, that his next race would have been his last, and then, like most spent racehorses, he could've become hamburger."
We're soooooo glad that horse didn't become hamburger.
Valediction now lives at a farm in Virginia where no one is allowed to ride him. All thanks to Sam's generosity.
Speaking of generosity, remember when Sam helped fund the Blackfish race car, getting it into Talladega?
Well Leilani Munter's No. 55 Toyota for the ARCA Racing Series event had a big orca on it during the race!
She was able to race because of Sam! He went to the race along with Pam Anderson, Jennifer Tilly and his dog Kasha!
Check out some cute pics (below) of them hangin' at the race.
The world needs more people like Sam. We hope he holds on for as long as he can. Wishing you health and happiness, Sam!!
