You'll Never Guess How Old The World's Oldest Living Cat Is! No Cheating!

Guess how old the world's oldest cat is! You won\'t believe it!

Poppy the cat may look like any other cat that's getting up there in years.

But how old is she? 10? 11? 12??

12? Try double that!

Yup, Poppy the cat (born in 1990!) is now 24-years-old. She's confirmed by Guinness World Records as the oldest living cat on the planet!!

So, what's her secret for staying so alive for so long?

Her owner Jacqui West said:

"She keeps herself fit by walking around, and she eats a lot. She has biscuits in the morning and tinned food later on. She's never been a big cat though."

What's amazing is how alive Poppy still is at age 24.

Even though she's blind and deaf, she's still kickin'!

She's apparently kept her spot as top cat in her house, with her owner saying:

"Poppy is definitely the top cat, and she is still quite feisty. If one of the other cats tries to eat her food, she will bite them on the ear. We sometimes give her a bit of KFC chicken, fish and chips and even the odd bit of kebab meat."

So cute!! She sounds like one spoiled kitty.

Though when any animal basically lives to double its life expectancy, we feel like they should be spoiled until their very last day.

We hope Poppy lives forever!

12? Your highest guess was 12? Cats can live much longer than that, mine is 17 and he is still running, climbing trees, eating with gusto and cuddling up to us, as he has always done. I'll admit that 24 is really impressive, though.

Indoor cats have a life expectancy of 15-20 years. Whoever thought 12 was high needs to get their facts straight.

the oldest cat in the world was 38 and called creme puff so 24 isn't that amazing it's just the current oldest living cat, they think, but they are still looking for people to get in touch…

Good for that cat, looks like a nice one.
Had a cat named Frisky once, half Siamese but with coloring like he was wearing a tuxedo with the white paws, mustache, etc. Got him when I was 8-10 and he lived at least 20 years, died when I was married and in my 20s. Great cat and loved to catch a mockingbird and present it as a present to my Mom at the back door.

No joke, my clinic euthanized a 28 or 29 year old Sphinx cat maybe a month ago? I couldn't believe it's age, but it was a registered cat. Oldest I'd ever seen. Too bad Guinness didn't do this cat old age thing a month sooner :P

This is truly wonderful that this kitty is 24 years old. I submitted my kitty named "Miss Kitty" last year to the Book of World records and NEVER heard back from them. Last fall Miss Kitty Turned 25 years old and was living!!!! So actually I had the oldest living kitty. I am very disappointed that they did not bother following up on my precious kitty that just died. Miss Kitty still would of been with us but started having seizures due to brain cancer.

Re: Nicky – I agree, I worked at a vet's office and a cat was 28, that's why I was surprised that it was only 24
