Fire crews at Langwarrin in Melbourne, Australia got to save a tiny life recently.
Here's the story:
A koala was hit by a car and took refuge in a tree.
When they went to rescue the little critter...
Talk about having the WORST July 5th ever!
Steven Robles THOUGHT he was gonna have a normal morning when he decided to go for a long distance swim with 14 of his friends in Manhattan Beach, California, but the fates were not favoring him that morning!
While nearing the end of the 50-year-old's swim from Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach (around 9:30 a.m.) Steven was around the MB pier when the SEVEN FOOT GREAT WHITE SHARK decided to attack him!
'[It] came from the bottom of the ocean floor, surfaced at the top of the water, made a very sharp left turn and lunged [at me.]
Uh, not your typical early morning swim! Poor Steven!
Clearly, not all sharks are as friendly as this one, but thankfully, this shark was a SMALL ONE, by great white standards, so it didn't do as much damage as a full grown one might have.
Steven spoke out about the attack, detailing what it was like to struggle with the the fish.
'He just swam right at me and when he lunged into my chest, I could feel his whole body vibrating. It happened so quick. I was very scared. It was burning pain. … I was staring at this shark eyeball-to-eyeball with its teeth on the side of my rib cage.
I had enough sense to use my right hand to grab its nose and pry the fish's teeth off my side torso area, [and it] let go and swam away immediately.
I immediately started screaming, and about three swimmers who were five strokes behind me came up and helped me get to shore. A paddler showed up and got me on his longboard and paramedics and lifeguards were waiting.
Fortunately, the bite didn't go into any organs and I didn't crack any ribs. I'm very thankful I'm alive. This absolutely could have been it. I was given a second chance, and this is Day One of a new life.'
WOW. Talk about a scary experience! Thankfully he had the instinct to go for a shark's weakest point (it's nose) to get himself free!
And people say watching Shark Week isn't worth your time. DON'T EVER LISTEN TO THOSE PEOPLE.
However the other question that comes about what provoked the shark to attack Steven? Maybe he was just mad cause he didn't get the lead in Sharknado 2? LOL.
Nope! Witnessess on the scene said the shark had been thrashing in the water for almost 30 minutes prior to the bite because it was caught on a fisherman's line.
Which means that Steven was, probably, in the wrong place at the wrong time.
