One Bolt Of Lighting KILLED 80% Of A Farmer's Herd! That's Terrible!

cow herd killed lightinng storm

Jean Taylor is a rancher from Darby, Montana and she was left in shock when 80% of her cattle herd died in a freak accident.

One moment, they were there, and the next… gone.

All it took was a single bolt of lightning.

Apparently during a storm, Jean's cows were crowded under a bunch of crabapple trees on the farm. Then the bolt of lightning struck, killing 45 of her cows!

That's so awful!!

She said:

"It was exactly at 10:28 p.m. The clap of thunder woke me up. Some friends told me they felt the shock in their house.

They were beautiful cattle. It killed cows and their calves and a bull that we had just bought last spring. It’s very sad. No one had ever heard of so many cattle being killed by lightning like that. We have eight or 10 cows left in our herd."

Local ranchers helped her family dispose of all the dead animals, so at least they had support.

But they can never get back the herd of Black Angus cattle that her family spent years building.

Those poor cows. So sad.

It happens…it happened to me. Lightning took out my herd of Arabian horses, 1 mare survived the strike. The mare that survived is blind now in one eye, but she is fine.
I was in the process of getting them all insured..only had one insured when it happened. They are all buried in that pasture and I pulled my mare out of there ASAP. Come to find out lightning took out some cattle in the same place a few years back.
