This makes us really sad.

Kerrie Orozco of the Omaha Police Department was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday — one day before she was supposed to start her maternity leave.

Officer Orozco was part of the department's fugitive task force. While being served a felony arrest warrant, the suspect — Marcus Wheeler — pulled out a gun and began shooting.

Gunfire was exchanged, and Kerrie was struck in her chest. She later succumbed to her wounds. The suspect was killed as well.

The 29-year-old officer was to begin her maternity leave the day after she was killed. She was not pregnant at the time of her death; her daughter Olivia Ruth was born premature three months ago and was to leave the hospital with Kerrie on Thursday.

Omaha's mayor and the Governor of Nebraska both ordered flags to be flown at half mast through Memorial Day. Kerrie's funeral will take place on Tuesday.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer was in disbelief over the death of the seven-year veteran:

We're so glad she has the strength to tell her story!

Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong has lived a tumultuous life, both on screen and off.

Not only has the 43-year-old witnessed domestic abuse growing up as a child, she experienced it with her late husband Russell Armstrong who committed suicide in 2011.

With all of the chaos surrounding her, the reality TV star confessed in an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? — airing this Saturday — that she masked the pain with plastic surgery.

The mother of one revealed:

"I spent the early part of my life trying to become someone that I wasn't and I think a lot of it has to do with the shame and the guilt and all of the things I was carrying from my past."

Taylor has accused Russell of grabbing her, shoving her, pulling her hair, and throwing objects at her.

In regards to her cosmetic surgery, she dishes:

"I got new lips and new breasts and changed my hair, changed my name… It was anything I could do to try to become someone else."

The Kansas-native was born Shana Hughes and prior to her marriage to Armstrong, went by Taylor Ford, a combination of her stepfather's last name, Taylor, and the last name of her idol, designer Tom Ford.

While we are appalled by the abuse she had to go through, we applaud Taylor's honesty and we hope it will give others suffering from domestic violence the strength to rise up from their surroundings.

Emma Sulkowicz made headlines when she began carrying her mattress around Columbia University to protest the school's mishandling of her rape case.

And on Tuesday that protest culminated when — despite earlier rulings against it — she was allowed to carry the mattress across the stage as she graduated.

This is the culmination of a protest/senior performance art project entitled Mattress Performance (Carry That Weight) in which Emma must have the mattress with her whenever she is on university property.

Emma filed a complaint against another Columbia student in April 2013 for sexually assaulting her in August 2012.

When the University found the student "not responsible," Emma took her case to the NYPD, who chose not to pursue charges.

She has since filed a Title IX lawsuit against the school.
