NBC Utah Affiliate Bans The Playboy Club

NBC’s Utah affiliate channel KSL-TV has made a decision to not allow the network’s new series, The Playboy Club, to air this fall, forcing the Peacock to find another station to carry the show for viewers this fall.

The channel, which has ties to the Mormon church, described the decision as being part of the station’s “long-term policy to screen programming for material which significant portions of our audience might find objectionable.”

The decision was announced this morning in a newscast (above), which featured a statement on behalf of KSL President and CEO Mark Willes, reading:

“The Playboy brand is known internationally. Everyone is clear what it stands for. We want to be sure everyone is clear what the KSL brand stands for, which is completely inconsistent with the Playboy brand.”

Fair enough!

We’re sure there will be some disappointed viewers in the Utah area hoping to get a chance to watch the new drama centering around a Chicago branch of Hugh Hefner‘s club in the 1960’s, but hopefully NBC will find another outlet for the show.

There’s always Hulu! Ha!

Do U watch KSL-TV? If so, do U agree or disagree with the channel’s decision not to air The Playboy Club?
