Such a shame!
Last we heard about Spike Lee’s big screen endeavors, he was planning to direct a movie about MJ’s death called Brooklyn Loves You, Michael Jackson. That was all the way back in April ’10 though, and we haven’t really heard updates on that project since!
Now, Spike has opened up why he’s been MIA from the big screen since 2008’s Miracle at St. Anna. Here’s what he had to say about it:
“I haven├óΓé¼Γäót made a feature film in three years.”
“Inside Man was my most successful film, but we can├óΓé¼Γäót get the sequel made. And one thing Hollywood does well is sequels. The film├óΓé¼Γäós not getting made. We tried many times. It├óΓé¼Γäós not going to happen.”
“First of all, what in this world does not revolve around money? But money is a big part of film, unlike a lot of other art forms.”
This is kind of sad to hear! It would be one thing if Spike just hadn’t been inspired lately, or if he’d been truly passionate about pursuing TV projects, but we’re bummed to hear that he hasn’t been making features because nobody will give him the $$$.
Come on, Hollywood! Don’t you remember Do The Right Thing? This guy is capable of greatness! Let’s give him some more opportunities.
Would U like to see more movies by Spike Lee?
