It’s a great day for equality!
Setting the precedent for Polish parliament, Anna Grodzka took her seat as a newly elected official Tuesday morning!
Anna, who went through a sex change last year, entered parliament with welcome arms by her peers. They warmly cheered her on as she walked down the assembly hall.
Anna couldn’t be happier being able to do what she loves without prejudice from her peers:
It is a symbolic moment, but we owe this symbolism not to me but to the people of Poland because they made their choice. They wanted a modern Poland, a Poland open to variety, a Poland where all people would feel good regardless of their differences. I cannot fail them in their expectations.
…spoken like a true politician!
Anna belongs to the third largest party in the country — the progressive Palikot’s Movement.
Congratulations, girl!! We’re super proud of you! And of Poland!!
