A healthy house means a healthy family!

There are so many little ways you can keep your home safe and your children healthy.

The experts over at at the Children’s Environmental Health Center at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC have sent us few tips on home safety that can benefit your family AND the environment!

Here’s the Center’s Director Dr. Philip J. Landrigan second tip for Perezitos.com readers:

Stay warm without harming the environment.

The average family spends $1,400 a year on energy bills, says the EPA, with half of these costs spent on heating and cooling. To reduce costs and reduce air pollution, use energy-efficient heating equipment that is properly sized and maintained. Make sure all ducts are sealed, as leaks reduce energy efficiency by 20 percent. If your equipment is over 15 years old, consider replacing it.
