Wendy’s recently took the number two slot in the fast food world, beating out Burger King!
Ever since BK suffered that huge defeat in the fast food wars, they’ve begun rolling out some serious changes.
And the most major is a menu change.
Between 2003 and 2010, McDonald’s added specialty salads, snack wraps, premium coffee and fruit smoothies.
Now BK is doing basically the same thing.
Their new fruit smoothies and chicken wraps in particular are very reminiscent of McDonald’s options.
Experts say the only way this plan will succeed is if the food is cheaper or better than McDonald’s or else this plan may just fall flat on its face.
A consultant said:
“You can have football teams, and just because they’re both running the same offense it doesn’t mean it will work the same.”
Burger King is not only changing the menu but offering a 50% discount on their franchise fees if a location does certain new renovations, totaling about $275,000.
They’re also doing a star-studded advertising push to try and really expose their new menu items.
We’ll be interested to see what happens.
