Hollywood’s Top Pet Advocates With Jamie Lynn Smith!

Celebs gush over their pets as much as we all do but who are the starlets advocating for our pets more than anyone else?

Pets activist Jamie Lynn Smith has the answer!!!

Check out her list of the top leading ladies in the pet world and how they help out animals everywhere!

Denise Richards

An official associate of Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, Denise Richards shines in Hollywood as a portrayer of good for animal advocates everywhere. She officially has saved and now owns a 16-year-old dog who was pretty beaten up, a pot-bellied pig, a dog with no eyes, and other assorted dogs.

According to an article on WebMD, ├óΓé¼┼ôShe not only pulls pups out of line for euthanasia at her local shelter in Los Angeles, she also houses them in a space so cushy it would make most mutts — and even a few humans — green with envy.

In fact, the number of dogs in Richards’ home is irrelevant. From her point of view, the more, the better.├óΓé¼┬¥ Richards has actually remodeled her home to accommodate more and more dogs!

Tori Spelling

Also a big advocate of rescue and pet adoption, Tori Spelling currently has house chickens, a pet goat, a bird, dogs, and more of a cavalry for her and her kids than can be seen on every episode of her hit show.

She and husband Dean McDermott, of course, look on the brighter side of these adoptions. Spelling has previously stated, “Everyone does better with a playmate,” after McDermott gifted her with a second goat and chicken to match the first two!

Katherine Heigl

She calls it her “chop shop” but Heigl has a website, “I Hate Balls,” where she pawns t-shirts, underwear, and other “groovy gear!”

I Hate Balls is, from the site, an “edgy campaign meant to raise awareness about spay/neuter, a simple and extremely effective means of stopping the killing of animals in shelters.” (Pet overpopulation has reached a fever pitch of fervor on many an animal welfare organization’s hit list.)

Heigl is also a passionate pet rescuer who owns many of her own rescue dogs. “I Hate Balls” also gives funds to local rescues that save pets from over-crowded shelters and has given $2 million to development, implementation & support of training, education & transport programs.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen is best known for her whacky gift-giving ways on her famous TV show, but did you know she also gifts animals across the country with kibble and more?

She has her own brand of dog and cat food, Halo Purely for Pets, and has also used her celebrity status to assist with all kinds of animal welfare issues.

From the 2010 “Stamps to the Rescue” campaign, to helping with a winter 2011 crusade by a 12-year-old girl to increase the amount of kibble available to shelter pets, to multiple promos in 2012, Ellen may be furless but she has the fearlessness and heart of a lion!
