School Vending Machine Laws May Help Kids Lose Weight

Obesity is a huge problem in America, but some health experts believe they may have found a way to curb kids’ massive weight gains.

A new study has revealed that adolescents in states with strict laws that regulate the sale of snack and sugary drinks gained less weight than those living in states which had no such laws.

In the study, researchers followed more than 6,300 fifth- and eighth-grade students in 40 states from 2004 to 2007. They analyzed the height and weight of children and cross referenced those numbers with how strict a state’s laws were on foods sold in schools.

Researchers believe this study may be a major factor for future lawmakers as they implement laws designed to prevent childhood obesity.

Although the results didn’t prove that stricter laws could prevent obesity, the results did suggest that stricter laws might be a factor.

We think it is a great idea to limit the amount of sugary foods kids can purchase in school.

After all, what good is a strict parent enforced diet if their child just ends up drinking three bottles of soda with a side order of pop tarts at school?

Healthy eating IS the solution!!!
