Stephen Hawking, one of the smartest men alive today, will be narrating the opening ceremony of the Paralympics!
The whole point of the opener is to “challenge our perceptions.”
The opener is directed by Jenny Sealey and Bradley Hemmings.
Stephen Daldry, who is tasked with overseeing all four Olympic ceremonies, said this one will be very different from the others:
“If Danny Boyle’s was very much about two revolutions and popular culture and Kim Gavin’s was very much about a symphony of British music, then what you will get from Jenny and Bradley is something very different.”
After a flyby of a disabled pilot, Hawking will narrate “the most exquisite journey” through history, emphasizing scientific and cultural advances through the 18th century.
What’s amazing is of the 3,000 volunteers in the show, 42 are disabled.
Those people have trained from scratch in different circus skills!
Should be an amazing opener! We can’t wait to watch!
