This is a huge step for science and for the health of the world’s children!
Scientists in Australia have developed a genetic test that can predict autism spectrum disorder in children.
This is great because it finally means early detection is possible, which means there is a better chance for more effective treatment.
With about one in 150 kids being autistic, this is a much needed test.
Autism spectrum disorder means kids ranging from anywhere between social awkwardness and narrow interests all the way to severe intellectual and communication disabilities.
The test is brand new but it is already predicting autism with 70% accuracy!
With early detection, doctors can intervene much earlier and reduce the behavior and cognitive difficulties of autistic children significantly.
Way to go, Science!
Science! Science! Science!
