Drew Barrymore Bucks Hollywood Fads: No Diet After Birth!

It sucks: if you’re in the Hollywood spotlight, it’s almost assumed that you’ll go on a diet the day after your baby is born to get back to where you were before you got knocked up. In a lot of cases, it doesn’t even seem like a choice!

It’s that choice that we would love to see come back. We’re sure there are new moms out there that just want to get back to being as healthy as they were beforehand, regardless of their job demands. On the flipside, we’re sure there are moms out there that don’t even want to worry about it, because they just had a baby and they want to focus on the baby.

Neither is wrong. What’s wrong is if you’re forced by profession to dedicate all your time to getting back to where you were RIGHT AWAY!

Drew Barrymore isn’t hearing that BS call from Hollywood. Here’s what she says:

├óΓé¼┼ôMy new motto is ├óΓé¼╦£Impossible expectations are impossible.’ Look, with my luck I will starve myself, work out and then the next day get hit by a bus ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ and think, ├óΓé¼╦£Why did I waste my time doing that?├óΓé¼Γäó├óΓé¼┬¥

While we do think it’s important for people to be healthy, regardless of what the next day might bring, you should be doing it for personal reasons, not Hollywood. So we’re totally refreshed hearing this from her!

She continued:

“I think I gained an extra five pounds the last week because I was so late and like, ‘Forget it! All bets are off. I’ll have two cheeseburgers.’

“I’m the last person anyone should look to for workout tips. I don’t have them. I don’t care. I’m trying to figure out how to do things differently than when I grew up. I know a lot of what works and what doesn’t work. I’ve got some really great blueprints of what not to do. I will have boundaries and consistency and protection and traditions.”

We love hearing someone so focused and grounded on giving their little ones the right path! Plus, she’s just as beautiful now as she ever was before!

Hope all is well, Drew!
