Lindsey Vonn Needs Reconstructive Surgery After Ski Crash!

We previously mentioned that Lindsey Vonn, Olympic gold medalist, was seriously injured in a ski accident.

She was competing at the super-G event at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Austria.

The crash was pretty serious and she ended up fracturing her shinbone and tearing her ACL and MCL in her right knee!

The injury was so bad that she needs reconstructive surgery!!

U.S. Ski Team doctor William Sterett said:

“She├óΓé¼Γäóll be heading back to Vail and I will be doing surgery on her knee early next week. Lindsey is doing well. She├óΓé¼Γäós in good spirits.”

So even though her current season is over and her knee is destroyed, she’s still remaining positive!

She released a statement that said:

“First off I want to say thank you to the amazing medical staff that cared for me. I plan on returning to Vail as soon as I can to have the necessary surgeries. I am also grateful to my fans for the the outpouring of support, which has really helped me stay positive. I can assure you that I will work as hard as humanly possible to be ready to represent my country next year in Sochi.”

Luckily, as long as the surgery goes well, she’ll be back on her skis by October for World Cup season.

Then it’s on to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi!

Feel better, gurl!
