Drake And J. Cole Apologize About Controversial Lyrics About Autism!

drake and j cole apologize for lyric about autism

A rapper apologizing over their lyrics? Stop us if you think that you’ve heard this one before!

Drake and J. Cole found themselves in that exact situation recently after some lyrics in their song Jodeci Freestyle about autism rubbed the Anti-Bullying Alliance the wrong way!

Cole immediately apologized for his offensive verse and said:

“To the parents who are fighting through the frustrations that must come with raising a child with severe autism, finding strength and patience that they never knew they had; to the college student with Asperger’s syndrome; to all those overcoming autism. You deserve medals, not disrespect. I hope you accept my sincere apology.”

Drake also spoke out about the controversy and said he would take the lyric out of the song completely:

“J.Cole wrote a beautiful and moving apology to individuals and families affected by autism who were understandably hurt by a verse in Jodeci Freestyle. I share responsibility and offer my sincerest apologies for the pain this has caused. Individuals with autism have brilliant and creative minds, and their gifts should not be disparaged or discounted. This was a learning lesson for both of us, and I├óΓé¼Γäóm grateful for the opportunity to try to right this wrong. J. Cole and I believe that it is the right, responsible, and respectful decision to remove the lyric from the song.”

It feels like things like this keep on happening in the hip-hop world, but it’s great to see both rappers taking responsibility for their actions and doing their best to try and correct the mistakes they made!

Hopefully they actually did end up learning a lesson from this and will think twice about writing lyrics that may be deemed as offensive next time!
