We had no idea 2013 would bring us so much Harry Potter news!
After the eighth and final movie of the seven-part series, we thought for sure that the magic was gone for good.
But not only do we have a new spinoff movie coming- now fans are getting a PREQUEL!
The story of Harry’s early years before Hogwarts will not come as a book or a movie, but as a stage play! It’s a brand new medium for creator J.K. Rowling, so she’ll be producing along with vets Sonia Friedman and Colin Callendar!
Rowling has been approached to do Harry Potter onstage before, but the story of Harry’s formative years as an orphan finally felt right. She said:
“[Sonia and Colin’s vision] was the only one that really made sense to me, and which had the sensitivity, intensity and intimacy I thought appropriate for bringing Harry├óΓé¼Γäós story to the stage.
After a year in gestation, it is very exciting to see this project moving onto the next phase.”
The play will begin in London’s West End, but we’re sure it won’t be long before American muggles get their chance to see it on Broadway! Totes excited!
