John Travolta On The Death Of His Son Jett: “Was The Worst Thing That’s Ever Happened In My Life!” Credits Scientology With Helping Him!

john travolta says scientology saved his life after the loss of his son

This is something no parent should have to go through.

John Travolta, celebrating his 60th birthday, recently appeared in London at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane where he spoke candidly about the loss of his 16-year-old son Jett in January 2009.

The actor and his wife Kelly Preston‘s eldest son died suddenly and unexpectedly from a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. Jett had a history of seizures and was autistic.

When that happened, John Travolta says his life completely crumbled, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to live anymore.

He said:

“[That was] the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life. The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it. Life was no longer interesting to me, so it took a lot to get me better. [I] didn’t want to wake up.”

But John believes that his faith and fellow members of his Scientology church helped him overcome his grief. And he’ll never forget it!

He said:

“I will forever be grateful to Scientology for supporting me for two years solid, I mean Monday through Sunday. They didn’t take a day off, working through different angles of the techniques to get through grief and loss, and to make me feel that finally I could get through a day.”

It wasn’t just the Scientology peeps who helped him, but his late friend James Gandolfini, as well!

He said:

“James went out of his way to come to Florida and he would not leave Florida until I was okay, or he felt that I would be fine.”

We’re so glad that John Travolta was able to overcome that heartbreaking time in his life, and seems to be doing okay these days.

Support is especially helpful when you’re down and out.

It doesn’t really matter where that support comes from!
