Is Cheerleading A Sport? The American Medical Association Says It Should Be, But What Do YOU Think??

The AMA says cheerleading should finally be recognized as a real sport!

Ready?? OK!! This is G-R-E-A-T!

Anyone who has ever been a cheerleader or watched the movie Bring It On knows that cheerleading is both physically demanding AND very dangerous! But for some reason, it’s still not considered a “real” sport!

Well the American Medical Association is looking to change that, as the large group of doctors met in Chicago on Monday and said cheerleading should be recognized as a sport by high schools and the NCAA!

Boston-area pediatrician Samantha Rosman claims:

“These girls are flipping 10, 20 feet in the air. We need to stand up for what is right for our patients and demand they get the same protection as their football colleagues.”

She also pointed out that cheerleading is one of the leading causes of injury for female high school athletes, and it’s time they get the treatment they deserve!

Being recognized as a sport would mean cheerleaders would have stricter safety measures and access to the same medical privileges their fellow athletes get!

It only seems fair that cheerleading be recognized as a sport, especially if it means keeping our athletes safe and protected! The only question is, what took so long??

You might feel differently though… so sound off!
