If Billy Bob Thorton wasn’t already one of your personal heroes, he might be after this!
The veteran actor made an appearance on Oprah’s Master Class to share some of his wisdom and talk a little bit about the competitive nature of television and why we’re so obsessed with watching people fail!
Billy quickly points the finger of blame at reality television, specifically Cupcake Wars, as he says:
“We don’t need one show about cupcakes, as far as I’m concerned. But, you know if you got one, OK that’s fine. Have a show about cupcakes. But does it have to be a f*cking competition? Do you have to have cupcake wars?”
Ha! Tell us how you really feel, Bill!
And he didn’t quite stop there either, as he went on to say:
“And I’m sure people who have been in war kind of take offense to that. Because seriously, it’s not that goddamn dangerous to make a cupcake.”
That’s actually a pretty good point!
But if you think it’s all just Bill being a negative Nancy, he puts the metaphorical icing on the, um, cupcake and finished on a sweet note, saying:
“I guess I’m just really ready for people to kind of settle down and know each other again or root for each other, as opposed to looking for the faults in each other.”
Aww! That’s actually really nice!
We definitely see where Billy is coming from here and agree that some shows do tend to get a bit overly competitive, but we have to admit, we DO love us some Cupcake Wars! LOLz!
