Blame Miley Cyrus! Vermont High School Cancels High School Dance Over Twerking Concerns!

blame miley cyrus vermont high school cancels high school dance over twerking concerns

Uh oh!

Miley Cyrus would NOT approve of this!

The principal of a high school in Bennington, Vermont, called Mount Anthony Union High School, has called off the annual homecoming dance… because she doesn’t want the dance to be a twerk-fest!

Principal Sue Maguire was the one who made the final decision, and she reasoned her decision in a letter!

Here’s what she wrote:

“Since Miley Cyrus took the stage ‘twerking’ at the 2013 MTV VMAs, our students’ dancing behavior has crossed the line of what we can condone as appropriate behavior at a school. Twerking is dancing to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving a low squatting stance and thrusting movements. Students do not face one another or remain with the same person for the length of the song. If you haven’t seen twerking, I would encourage you to research this online.”

Wow!

We’re not sure if it’s that fair to cancel the homecoming dance just because of twerking concerns!

What’s to stop these kids getting together on their own and having their own twerk homecoming dance — and that would be WITHOUT the adult supervision!

Plus, it’s erasing a school tradition all because of Miley!

Hopefully the students can somehow convince their elder that they will keep their twerking to a minimum to possibly get this school dance back on!

If that doesn’t happen – these students may not be able to twerk, but they may go berserk!
