We hope she feels better right away!
Kate Middleton, who was planning on attending her first solo tour of Malta on behalf of the Royal Family, will NOT be going after all.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been dealing with a lengthy bout with morning sickness, and has thus handed off her royal duties to her husband Prince William. He’ll be going on Saturday, September 20th.
But what finally made this news official?
Here’s what a source said:
“The doctors advised her [on the decision] last night.”
The Palace has released a statement about the cancelled trip. The statement read:
“The Duchess of Cambridge will no longer visit Malta this weekend. The Duke of Cambridge will undertake the visit instead. Her Royal Highness continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The decision not to visit was taken by the Duke and Duchess on the advice of the Duchess’s doctors. The Duke is honored to represent Her Majesty The Queen on the visit, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malta’s independence. The visit itinerary remains unchanged.”
It’s a bit worrisome that Kate’s morning sickness seems to be SO bad, but that’s relatively normal for the first trimester — except for those lucky few who skate through with NO sickness!
But Kate seems to be doing OK, and she’s got a prince of a husband to perform her duties for her while she recovers!
And an extremely handsome one, as well!
