A Grandfather Killed His Daughter And His Six Grandchildren In Awful Murder Suicide In Florida

grandfather killed his daughter and his six grandchildren in awful murder suicide

This is incredibly horrifying.

A 51-year-old man named Donald C. Spirit, who had previously accidentally shot his 8-year-old son in 2001 in a hunting accident, is believed to have gone on a killing spree of his own family before taking his own life.

The horrible murders happened in Bell, Florida, where authorities were alerted when they got a call from Spirit himself on Thursday around 4pm. They went to the scene of the crimes and were able to contact Spirit before he committed suicide.

Once inside the home, they found Donald’s daughter Sarah Spirit and her four children – Kaleb Kuhlmann, Kylie Kuhlmann, Johnathon Kuhlmann, Brandon Stewart, Destiny Stewart, and Alanna Stewart – all murdered by their grandfather.

The daughter was 28-years-old while her children’s ages ranged from 11 to two-months-old.

Gilchrist County Sheriff Robert Schultz III said:

“This is a small county. We’re all family here. … There are certain things in life you can explain, and there are some things you can’t. We will continue to be family, and we will work through this. We are asking for prayers for this community and the families involved.”

Although details of this beyond awful crime are being kept close to vest for the time being – it is believed that there were survivors at the home where the murder-suicide rampage happened, but no other details are available at this time.

We previously mentioned that Donald C. Spirit had accidentally shot and killed his 8-year-old son in 2001. That incident happened when Spirit was cleaning his rifle and accidentally set it off – the bullet subsequently hit his child in the head and killed him.

Although it was ruled an accident, Spirit still had to spend in prison for possessing a firearm that he did not have a permit for, and ended up being released from jail in 2006 after spending three years there.

He definitely took his son’s death hard, at the time saying:

“The medication, I’ve tried it. It ain’t working. The one medicine I have is my family.”

We’re not sure if his son’s death has any correlation to the recent mass tragedy that he inflicted on his own family, but all we do know is that our hearts and prayers go out to the victims’ remaining family.

We wish them the upmost strength of mind and body to deal with this awful tragic set of circumstances that have occurred in their lives.
