It was Night One of the two-night season finale on Dancing With The Stars, and everyone brought their A-game for the finals!
Every couple’s first dance was Judge’s Choice, meaning a repeat of a dance from earlier in the season.
But it was the freestyles that didn’t miss a beat!
First off, Bethany Mota and Derek Hough repeated their Week 1 jive, shucking their way through Shake It Off! And unlike Taylor Swift, they weren’t dancing on their own! So together! No wonder they scored a 36 out of 40!
Then they went freestyle to Diplo‘s Revolution.
Bethany cast off her adorable image and led her group of leather-clad rebels with some great lifts and group synchronization. Derek was there, but this was HER dance. And she rocked it! 40 out of 40!
For their first dance, Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas repeated their Week 4 routine, a Duck Dynasty-themed samba to Pharrell‘s Hunter.
Sadie owned that duck costume, and the couple owned 38 out of 40.
Next up, they went 8-bit with a Super Mario Bros-themed freestyle in which cuteness carried the day! 40 out of 40!
Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy‘s first dance was an improvement on Week 6’s sexy samba that got them a 37 out of 40.
But it was their beautiful freestyle to a slowed-down romantic version of I Would Walk 500 Miles that stole the judges’ hearts for a perfect 40 out of 40.
Alfonso Ribeiro didn’t let his back injury keep him from perfectly (yep, 40 out of 40) recreating his fantastic Week 1 jive with Witney Carson.
And up next they performed a swingin’ freestyle that scored them ANOTHER 40 out of 40! Forget the Fresh Prince! This is the Carlton show!
Four freestyle dances, four perfect scores!
But in the end, someone had to say goodbye. And that was YouTube sensation Bethany Mota, along with DWTS champ Derek.
Tune in to Tuesday’s finale part deux to find out which of the three remaining couples will take home the Mirrorball Trophy!
