While searching the waters of the Java sea, a crew on a military aircraft spotted the shadow of an object that resembled a plane in the water which cause the teams to investigate further.

What they found was debris about six miles away from where the plane was last reported in the sky.

Before they increased their search efforts, Djoko Murjatmodjo, a senior official with Indonesia’s Transportation Ministry, let the world know that what they found was without a doubt from QZ8501.

He said:

“We’ve confirmed the wreckage was from the body of the plane.”

In addition to the pieces of plane found, there were two bodies spotted in the water, one a woman, and the other is unknown. Both, however, did not survive.

In the wake of the sad news Indonesian President Joko Widodo spoke out on the incredibly tragic situation.

He said:

“To the relatives, I feel your loss, and all of us pray that all of the families are given the strength and fortitude during this incident.”

He then rushed off to meet with the family members who were anxiously awaiting any news of their loved ones at the crisis center at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.

Such heartbreaking news.

Let’s just hope that the search and rescue efforts are not hindered further by inclement weather or anything else.

These poor families need to know.
