Not alright, alright, alright…
People are up in arms over a ranch that Matthew McConaughey either owns or used to own (still very unclear) with his brother Mike that offers whitetail deer hunting in an enclosed 22,000 acres with high fences.
Basically, the deer are trapped, and animal rights groups claim that they mostly congregate around feeding areas, which means they’re easy targets.
Here’s the thing: the Mertzon, Texas ranch’s website lists Matthew as a co-owner, but Matthew’s rep stated that he hasn’t owned the ranch since 2011.
Well, now we don’t know what to believe.
Matthew’s nephew Madison (who’s the ranch cattle manager) had the following to say about the actor’s involvement:
“My Uncle Matthew, the hunting part is part of the ranch, but he is more with the cattle. That’s where his passion is.”
So, does he own part of the ranch or not?
Additionally, another ranch manager had this to say about the hunting aspect of the ranch:
“No meat goes to waste after the hunts. It helps feed our families.”
