Star Wars is such a part of so many childhoods, it’s heartbreaking every time we lose one of the magicians that brought it to life.
You may not know the name Richard Bonehill, but you’ve seen him many times.
The actor played several characters in The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, most famously Nien Nunb, Lando Calrissian’s jovial co-pilot on the Millennium Falcon.
Bonehill was often called upon for roles with bodysuits due to his athletic prowess.
An expert horseman and fencer, Bonehill was the head coach of the Truro Fencing Club for 12 years and its President for 7.
His skills led him to act as a stunt double, fencing coach, and sword master on many films; besides Star Wars, he had small parts in Highlander, Doctor Who, and Rob Roy.
Bonehill passed away at the age of 67. The cause of his sudden passing has not been revealed.
