We were a little surprised when we heard that Eddie Redmayne was following his Best Actor win with a Thomas The Tank Engine movie.
In the biopic — set for release in 2016 — Eddie plays Einar Wegener, a Danish artist who undergoes one of the first gender reassignment procedures in history.
And this was in Germany in the 1930s, so this stuff was experimental back then!
The film is Eddie’s first live action work since his role as Stephen Hawking, and once again he’s throwing himself in, mind and body, for a radically transformative role. He said:
“I haven’t worked since The Theory of Everything, so it’s been really good to get the muscles exercised again.”
Those are SOME muscles!
The Danish Girl is directed by Eddie’s Les Mis├â┬⌐rables director Tom Hooper and also stars Amber Heard and Alicia Vikander as Eddie’s wife.
