The topic of racism isn’t new to Kanye West.
Like when he decided to take a stand against racism and wore the Confederate flag on the sleeve of his jacket — or when he spoke about racism at the BET Honors this year — he’s here to say enough with that old concept.
The All Day rapper stopped by Clique TV on Thursday to talk about his music, fashion, and everything in between.
It wasn’t until the interviewer asked Yeezy about social racism did he dismiss the word — and not in a bad way!
When asked if he’s experienced it, Kanye said:
“I wouldn’t call it racism if you say a form of discrimination or bigotry. Racism is a dated concept. It’s like a silly concept that people try to touch on ├óΓé¼┬ª to separate, to alienate, to pinpoint anything, it’s stupid. ├óΓé¼┬ª It’s something that was used to hold people back in the past, but now there’s been so many leaps and breaking of the rules that it’s played out, like a style from the 1800s.”
While racism is a dated concept, it’s still pretty alive today in the U.S., whether we like it or not.
Props to the 37-year-old on doing his best to try and eliminate the word from his vocabulary, but there are definitely some things that need to be changed regarding that action!
