Someone call up Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, because this is material for a Wedding Crashers sequel!!
Joey DiJulio thought it was strange when he found himself a part of an email chain preparing for a bachelor party in Philadelphia, especially since he didn’t know anyone on the email list — including the groom!
It turns out there was a mistake in
identity email address. The Seattle native had been confused for a friend of the groom with a similar last name! After a few months, DiJulio revealed his true identity to the group, writing:
“I have no idea who any of you guys are, but I have been enjoying being a fly on the wall hearing about the plans for this bachelor party over the last few months. I live out in Seattle, WA and although for a moment I thought it might be funny to just show up and be that guy nobody knows but everyone wonders ‘who is that guy?’, buying a plane ticket for a cross-country flight just to crash a bachelor’s party might be a bit over the top.”
After discovering the cyber stranger, the groom didn’t take his invite back. The soon-to-be-married Jeff Minetti not only encouraged his new friend to attend the March 28 bachelor party, but also invited him to the wedding on May 2!
DiJulio told his story online and has created a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising travel money to attend the bachelor party, which the groom promised would include low-key bar hopping and a possible trip to a casino.
By Thursday afternoon, DiJulio raised $1,740 — plenty more than he needed to cover the trip. So the goal was been raised to $10,000 to help cover the bride and groom’s honeymoon costs to Italy!
As of Today, 234 donors have raised a total of $4,120 in just three days! We hope the goal is reached, so Minetti and his bride can have the honeymoon of their dreams!
