On initial glance, Matt Diaz looks like any other stylish, confident young man.
But what many people don’t know is that the 22-year-old New Yorker struggled with his weight as a teen, weighing nearly 500 pounds.
Over the last six years, Matt has dropped 270 pounds, but not the body image issues that came with being overweight.
As difficult as losing all that weight was, Matt recently did something even more difficult — posting a shirtless video of himself and revealing his excess skin.
Ch-ch-check out his emotional video, below:
“I’m really scared to put this up. I’m scared people won’t find me attractive anymore. I’m scared that all the nice messages will stop. I feel this all the time.”
Matt set up a GoFundMe account on Wednesday to raise $20,000 to get the excess skin removed. As of Friday, he’s raised nearly double that amount.
“I want to be proud of who I am and I want all of you to be proud of who you are and part of that is not hiding it.”
Well Matt, we couldn’t be prouder of you and hope you reach — and surpass — your goals!
