It’s been about four months since Leelah Alcorn‘s tragic death, so it makes us so happy to see her memory being remembered in such an uplifting way.
A 13-year-old named Tom Sosnik decided to come out as a trans man to his classmates via an emotional speech.
He urged his peers to educate themselves about the trans community and let them know it was safe to ask him any questions they had about his transition.
Tom posted his speech to his YouTube page, saying:
“This is how I came out to my community as trans. Please share my story and my message with your loved ones. To all those struggling to embrace their true and authentic gender or sexuality, I want you to know that if no one else accepts you, I always will. Rest in power, Leelah.”
We’re sure she’d be proud of you, Tom!
