It was announced today that Hell Or Highwater will be coming out on May 12, but in the meantime you can download the title track on iTunes, and preorder the album on both iTunes and Amazon. The official single release will be on March 31st.

Based on the snippets that have made it online, it sounds bluesy and soulful, and it’s pretty obvious that Hank Moody would totally approve.

This project was just a twinkle in David’s eye about a year ago when he told Rolling Stone:

“I’ve always written poetry for better or worse and once I started playing music, I started thinking, ├óΓé¼╦£Gee, I should be able to write lyrics.’ And I just fell backwards into the whole thing. It’s just been a real pleasure in my life, regardless of who buys it and what people think of it when it comes out. It’s been a lifesaver just to be able to play music, write songs and think about singing songs to friends.”

But now that it’s finally here, David released a statement, saying:

“Making this record is a dream come true, but I never had this dream ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ it’s still a shock when I think about how all this music happened,” Duchovny said in a statement. “What I do know is that I feel these songs represent the truest expression that I’ve ever been able to achieve and I look forward to sharing it with everyone.”

And did we mention he’s slated to co-star in the X Files reboot too?

2015 is going to be a big year for Mr. Duchovny, and we’re thrilled!
