Baby Suffers From A Rare Birth Defect, Was Born Without A Nose — Still Perfect In Every Way!

no title

Alabama mother Brandi McGlathery gave birth to her son Eli, who was born 6-pounds, 8-ounces and without a nose (Or nasal passages or sinus cavities). It’s called complete congenital arhinia and it’s incredibly rare. Only 38 cases have ever been reported worldwide.

What’s pretty crazy is we just recently reported about another baby with the same super rare condition!!

In this most recent case, it was Eli’s mom Brandi who first noticed something wasn’t quite right, saying:

“I pulled him back so I could get a better look at him. Then I said, ‘Something’s wrong with him.’ My doctor said, ‘No, he’s perfectly fine.’ I said, ‘No he doesn’t have a nose.’

[The doctor said] ‘Brandy, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t know how this happened, but you’re right he doesn’t have a nose.'”

Wow, that must’ve been an awful moment. Luckily, that moment passed and Brandi loves her “perfect” baby!

The good news is after he hits puberty, Eli will be able to have surgery to build nasal passages. However, until then, Eli has undergone a tracheotomy to help with his breathing and eating.

His family doesn’t want any unnecessary surgery until then because his mom says “he’s perfect the way he is.”

Ain’t that the truth! Congrats on the beautiful baby! If you want to help with Eli’s medical bills, you can donate HERE! And ch-ch-check out more about this little boy (below)!
