John Travolta usually keeps quiet about Scientology in public, but that seems to have changed recently.
Maybe it’s the bad press from Going Clear, but he seems to be ready to be more transparent with the public.
The Battlefield Earth star was on Good Morning America Monday morning, where he was once again asked about the criticism of his religion.
John suggested that critics could go… educate themselves. He said:
“You know, people really need to take time and read a book… that’s my advice. You could read New Slant on Life or Dianetics, and I think if you really read it, you’ll understand it. But unless you do, you’ll speculate, and I think it’s a mistake to do that.”
One person who is speaking out about Travolta’s religion presumably HAS read those books; he’s a former member.
Crash director Paul Haggis spoke out in Going Clear and says the Church of Scientology is still trying to keep tabs on him.
He claims that on April 7th he was emailed for a TIME magazine interview by a reporter named Mark Webber.
But after a search, Haggis says his people couldn’t find anyone by that name ever working for TIME — and when they asked TIME‘s editors, they said the story didn’t exist!
But Haggis’ team traced the email to an IP address at a building owned by the Church! Man, that’s some spooky stuff!
A Scientology rep has released a statement slamming this allegation, saying:
“The entire story is fabricated.”
Were they really trying to spy on him? Pretty creepy if so!
It’s clear both Travolta and Haggis are sticking to their guns about the controversial religion.
What do YOU think about these latest allegations??
