Dancing With The Stars took out their shades for some beachy fun during week six’s performances! The night was full of summery sets and impressive moves, and the first team dances brought some extra stress to the contestants too!
The team dances presented a chance for last place teams to redeem themselves in a bonus round. Most of the couples made waves with stellar performances, but one couple still had to go home.
Before we get to the best of the night’s performances, we’ll reveal who didn’t make the cut this week├óΓé¼┬ª.
After their best week yet, Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev were eliminated. The two danced the quickstep to Heatwave by Martha and the Vandellas. Though LaBelle’s step was a little too quick — she lost a shoe in the middle of the routine!
Even though the legendary singer was “in the best shape” for the fun poolside routine, receiving a 28 out of 40, they were eliminated from the competition. The 70-year-old told host Erin Andrews:
“I am honored to be here as long as I’ve been. I’ve learned so much about me. I’ve never done this before in my life and I learned a few steps and I found a great friend in Artem…To the judges, thank you so much. I’m happy!”
Awww, at least she got a good friend out of the competition! Here’s how the rest of the couples enjoyed spring break week:
The highest scoring performance was Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, who performed a spirited samba to Jason Derulo‘s Want to Want Me. The R5 frontman and his partner lost almost half their rehearsal time due to a last minute song change.
Missy Elliott‘s Work It was their first choice, but it was too “sexually explicit” for the musician. The song change to Derulo fared well for the couple as they received two 10’s and a total of 38 out of 40!
Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy performed a sexy rendition of Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child. They had fun experimenting with DC themed moves and even consulted some booty popping experts to do their backsides justice in the performance.
The dance received mixed reviews from the judges. Julianne Hough admitted that she was “underwhelmed” by the performance because her expectations were so high. But the couple still received a Beyonce approved score of 32 out of 40.
Hunger Games star Willow Shields and Mark Ballas performed a fun salsa to The Champs‘ Tequila. They took the concept of the movie Whiplash and added a bit of High School Musical, as the kids playing in the jazz band started rocking out at the sound of the bell.
The judges warned the 14-year-old about sharpening up her leg movements, but they all loved the “sassy” performance. They received a 34 out of 40!
Do U think the right couple went home?
