Reba McEntire Is Totally On Board With The Whole Gay Rights Thing!

As if we needed more reasons to love Reba McEntire!

Everyone’s favorite country singer-turned-sitcom star was just awarded one of The Academy of Country Music‘s 50th Anniversary Milestone Awards on Sunday, so it makes sense that she’s been doing a lot of press.

In fact, one of her interviews was all about her role as an LGBT Ally and gay icon, and we love her even more than we already did for her stance on the whole equality thing.

Reba opened up about her positive opinions on gay marriage, saying:

“I just went to my first gay wedding a couple of months ago in California for Michael and Steven, my two great friends. They’ve been together for 20 years! I thought that it was not fair, and I didn’t understand why they couldn’t get married. It wasn’t because they just wanted to get married. If one of them had gotten injured and gone to the hospital, the other one couldn’t make decisions for them. It’s very upsetting. It’s not only for convenience or for romantic reasons – it’s for practicality. For practical reasons!

I get a kick out of what Dolly Parton said: “Why shouldn’t they get married and be as miserable as the rest of us?”

Yaaaaasss Queen!

We hereby demand Reba win all the awards from now on.

Any award. Any time.

It’s nice to hear someone so influential in the country music scene share such an inspirational outlook on life and love!
